Tyler's Story

Our son Tyler was born with severe congenital heart defects - hypoplastic right heart syndrome, pulmonary stenosis, and ventricular septal defect. Tyler is now 14 months old and, after having a heart catheterization at 2 days old and an open heart surgery at 13 days old, he is about to undergo open heart surgery again.

You would never know by looking at Tyler that he has anything at all wrong with him. He is a happy boy and has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. But there is something wrong with him and it is never very far from our minds. As his parents we are on constant watch for blueness, rapid breathing, or anything that seems out of the ordinary.

Our lives have changed drastically since the entrance of this amazing child. Yes, there may be many terrifying moments, but we are so happy to have our little Mighty Mouse in our lives!
